Pregnancy After Loss

Pregnancy After Loss Support, Online Across Australia

Pregnant again after miscarriage or stillbirth — and holding your breath? I've carried two pregnancies after losing my son. I know what it is to carry grief and hope in the same body. Support to get you through every scan, every milestone, every 3am fear.

When Two Lines Bring Fear Instead of Joy

Everyone around you expects you to be excited. Instead, you're counting kicks at midnight, googling symptoms, bracing yourself before every scan, and afraid to buy a single thing for the nursery. Pregnancy after loss isn't like other pregnancies — your innocence is gone, and pretending otherwise just makes it lonelier.

This support is for you whether you're currently pregnant, trying to conceive, or still working out whether you'll ever feel ready. And it continues into parenting after loss — because the anxiety doesn't always end at birth.

How I Can Support You

Turning Fear Into Something You Can Carry

Practical anxiety tools — grounding, breathwork, thought strategies — built for the specific fears of pregnancy after loss, not generic relaxation advice.

Scan and Appointment Preparation

Strategies for the waiting room, scripts for medical staff, and ways to advocate for extra monitoring or reassurance when you need it.

Bonding at Your Own Pace

Gentle support to connect with this pregnancy while fully honouring the baby you lost. Loving this baby is not a betrayal of them.

Parenting After Loss

The baby arrives and the anxiety changes shape — checking they're breathing, intrusive thoughts, guilt when grief resurfaces. Support continues beyond the birth.

Client Experiences

From a Client Who Has Been Where You Are

Finding someone to talk to who has personal experience of loss made me feel seen and understood from day one. Sessions were gentle, compassionate and thoughtful conversations — no tests, no 'gotcha' moments. Our work together completely changed how I approach my feelings and honour myself in this space. The balance of grief and hope.

Questions You Might Have

I'm pregnant again and feel terrified instead of happy. Is something wrong with me?

Nothing is wrong with you. Pregnancy after loss is one of the most anxiety-laden experiences there is — your body learned that pregnancy can end in heartbreak, and it's trying to protect you. Fear and love can exist together. Therapy can't promise you a certain outcome, but it can help you carry the fear so it doesn't swallow the whole pregnancy.

I'm scared to bond with this baby. Is that normal?

Very normal, and one of the most common things I work with. Holding back can feel like self-protection — if you don't attach, it might hurt less. Gentle, gradual bonding work, at whatever pace feels safe, is a core part of pregnancy after loss support.

How do I cope with scans and appointments?

Scan rooms are often where loss became real, so it makes complete sense that they trigger panic. We build a practical toolkit: grounding techniques for the waiting room, scripts for telling staff about your history so you don't have to retell the story every time, and ways to advocate for the extra reassurance you may need.

Can I start therapy before trying to conceive again?

Yes — and many parents find this the most powerful time to start. Working through grief and fear before a new pregnancy can make the pregnancy itself feel less overwhelming. There's also space if you're unsure whether you'll ever feel ready. That uncertainty deserves support too.

Still processing your loss? You may want to start with miscarriage counselling or stillbirth support.
